Our Story
Built on Integrity.
Grown by Community.
Toora Mart was founded with a clear mandate: to bring a new standard of retail quality to Kampala — one where freshness, transparency, and respect for the customer are non-negotiable principles, not afterthoughts.
Our Mission
Why Toora Mart Exists
Every great retail institution begins with a question: what does the customer truly deserve? At Toora Mart, our answer is unambiguous — they deserve freshness they can trust, pricing that respects their intelligence, and a shopping environment that honours their time. These are not marketing promises. They are operational mandates that guide every decision we make, from the suppliers we approve to the way we greet each visitor at the door.
We exist because Kampala families deserve a supermarket that holds itself to a higher standard — one that does not simply stock products, but actively curates them. We exist because community-based commerce, when done with integrity, strengthens the social fabric of an entire city.
"Retail is not just commerce. It is a daily act of trust between a store and the community it serves."
— Toora Mart Management
Quality & Inventory
Strict Inventory Quality Control
Toora Mart operates under a rigorous inventory management framework that governs every product from procurement to placement on the shelf. Our quality assurance process begins at the point of supplier selection: we partner only with vendors who can demonstrate consistent freshness, certified sourcing, and reliable delivery schedules.
Fresh produce — matooke, avocados, tomatoes, potatoes, and seasonal fruits — undergoes daily visual inspection upon arrival. Items that do not meet our freshness threshold are removed and never reach the retail floor. Our cold chain for dairy products, including Lato UHT Milk, Jesa Yoghurt, and fresh local eggs, is maintained at calibrated temperatures with daily logging records.
Dry goods, grains, and packaged staples are stored in a clean, pest-controlled environment and rotated on a strict first-in, first-out basis. Expiry dates are checked at stocking and again during daily floor audits. Our standard is simple: if we would not serve it to our own families, it does not go on our shelves.

Community Trust
Rooted in Kampala, Built for Kampala
Toora Mart is not an imported concept transplanted into our city. We are a Kampala institution, built by people who understand the daily rhythm of life here — the school runs, the weekly market visits, the Sunday family shopping. Every product category we carry, every brand we stock, has been chosen with the specific needs and tastes of Kampala households in mind.
We prioritise sourcing from Ugandan farmers and regional producers wherever possible — Kabale Irish potatoes, local avocados, matooke from Central Region farms, and eggs from accredited local suppliers. This commitment to local procurement is both an economic statement and a quality one: fresh produce that travels shorter distances arrives in better condition.
Our role in the community extends beyond commerce. We are committed to fair employment practices, professional staff development, and maintaining a store environment that every resident of Kampala can feel proud to shop in.
Customer Service
Premium Service as a Non-Negotiable Standard
Every member of the Toora Mart team undergoes structured onboarding and ongoing training in professional retail service. From the moment a customer enters our store to the moment they leave, the experience is designed to be seamless, respectful, and efficient.
Our staff are trained in product knowledge — they can direct customers to items, advise on brands, and assist with bulk or wholesale inquiries. Customer feedback is taken seriously: we maintain a real-time review process to ensure that any service gap is identified and addressed within the same business day.
We also offer direct contact channels — including WhatsApp, telephone, and email — ensuring that our customers can reach us before they arrive, during their visit, or after, with any question or concern. This accessibility is part of our identity as a community-first retailer.
